15 April 2025, Chicago, Illinois - The Philippine Consulate General in Chicago, in collaboration with the Commission on Elections-Office for Overseas Voting, hosted its first hybrid town hall and mass enrollment for Filipino overseas voters on 15 April 2025 at the Consulate General’s Kalayaan Hall.
In celebration of the National Literature Month and US Poetry Month, the Philippine Consulate General in Chicago, in collaboration with the Chicago Public Library, held a book launching and reading of “Caulbearer,” the latest book by Filipino-American author Ms. Luisa A. Igloria, on 12 April 2025 at the Harold Washington Library Center. This is the third book reading event that the Consulate has organized in recent months.
The Philippine Consulate General in Chicago organized a Kapihan sa Konsulado on 11 April 2025 at the Consulate’s Kalayaan Hall. The event was attended by 57 leaders and members from 29 Filipino Community organizations in the US Midwest.
On 11 April 2025, Ms. Shiela Deforest, National Federation of Filipino American Associations (NaFFAA) Outreach Director for Region V (Kansas, North Dakota, South Dakota, Colorado, Montana and Wyoming) called on Consul General Melanie Rita B. Diano to discuss the organization’s projects. The Consul General was joined by Consul Melvin Almonguera.
