CHICAGO 23 March 2026- Consul General Melanie Rita B. Diano paid a courtesy visit to Ohio Treasurer Robert Sprague on 20 March at Rhodes State Office Tower in Columbus, Ohio. She was accompanied Consul Melvin Almonguera and Filipino-American Joy Kouns-Lewis, President and Executive Director of Asian American Commerce Group (AACG) of Central Ohio.

CHICAGO 20 March 2026– The Philippine Consulate General, together with the Philippine Trade and Investment Center, New York (PTIC-New York), promoted the 2026 U.S. Business Mission to the Philippines during a networking breakfast hosted by the law firm Kegler Brown Hill + Ritter in Columbus, Ohio last 19 March. The event was conducted in partnership with the Asian American Commerce Group (AACG).

CHICAGO 18 March 2026– Following the 11 February 2026 kickoff in New York, the Philippine Consulate General in Chicago and the Philippine Trade and Investment Center, New York (PTIC-New York) launched the 2026 U.S. Business Mission to the Philippines at Harbor Point in Chicago on 17 March 2026. The event was conducted in partnership with the Philippine American Chamber of Commerce of Greater Chicago (PACCGC).

The PHL Consulate General, represented by Consul Melvin Almonguera, attended the Windy City Bulls’ Filipino Night last 14 March at NOW Arena in Hoffman Estates, Illinois. He was joined by Atty. Mark Arinquin, Ms. Lizbeth Pangan and Ms. Sheila Panganiban.

Consul General Melanie Rita B. Diano promoted investment opportunities in the Philippines during the Leadership Dinners of the Economic Club of Chicago on 11 March 2025 at The Chicago Club in the city. The annual event brought together business leaders and professionals for discussions on economic trends and international partnerships.

11 March 2026 (Wednesday), Chicago - The Philippine Consulate General in Chicago kicked off #PurpleWednesdays to boost online awareness and conversations on Women’s Month, in support of a whole-of-government approach and all-of–society engagement in advancing gender equality and women’s empowerment (GEWE).

9 March 2026 (Friday), Chicago - The Philippine Consulate General in Chicago launched the “80 for 80” Project, which aims to document and recognize Filipino-American women’s work in the midwest United States that raise the profile of the Philippines, as well as benefit Filipinos and Filipino-Americans. The “80 for 80” Project is a brainchild of the Consulate’s Gender and Development Section in support of the 2026 National Women’s Month Celebration (NWMC) and the 80th anniversary of Philippines-United States diplomatic friendship.

The PHL Consulate General, represented by Consul Melvin Almonguera, participated in a panel discussion on regional developments during the Illinois Chamber of Commerce’s 2026 Global Trade Outlook held on 27 February 2026 at Instituto Cervantes in Chicago. He was joined in the panel by Director Mario Quina of the Portuguese Trade and Investment Agency in Chicago, Consul Gabriel Mendoza of the Mexican Consulate General, and Mr. Jean-François Hould of the Québec Government Office in Chicago.

Consul General Melanie Rita B. Diano welcomed Ms. Bacharee Puengpak, the Kingdom of Thailand’s newly arrived Consul General in Chicago, at the Philippine Consulate on 02 March 2026. The visit served as an introductory call following Consul General Puengpak’s arrival in the city last week.

Consul General Melanie Rita B. Diano accompanied by Cultural Officer Mary Joy Duran-Mortel attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony and opening of the Oblation Suite on 01 March 2026 at the Rizal Center.

The Philippine Consulate General in Chicago, in partnership with the Sulzer Regional Library, successfully hosted a painting activity titled “Sip, Paint, Relax” featuring artist Geraldine Martinez-Benz on 28 February 2026 at the Sulzer Regional Library.

CHICAGO, 23 February 2026 - The Philippine Consulate General in Chicago conducted a consular outreach mission in Overland Park, Kansas, on 21 February 2026. Its second consular outreach mission for the year, the one day event was held at the Filipino Cultural Center Foundation, West 79th St., Overland Park, Kansas 66204 (or some 512 miles away from Chicago), in collaboration with the Filipino Association of Greater Kansas City led by its President, Atty. Angela Fitle, and community leaders Ms. Rachel Manakul and Ms. Helen Austin.

CHICAGO, 24 November 2025 – In line with its commitment to strengthen and modernize consular service delivery, the Philippine Consulate General in Chicago signed a subscription agreement on the implementation of an electronic payment system with Cliqbux LLC on 24 November 2025 at the Kalayaan Hall of the Consulate. The digital payment platform will enable the Consulate to offer secure, convenient, and streamlined electronic payment options to the public.
