MADISON, WISCONSIN, 17 April 2026 — Consul General Melanie Rita B. Diano met with Wisconsin State Representative Angelito Tenorio at the Wisconsin State Capitol on 17 April 2026, in line with its continuing efforts to strengthen engagement with Filipino-American leaders and communities in the U.S. Midwest.

On 13 April 2026, Atty. Zenia Salles, President of Filipino American Lawyers Association of Chicago (FALA-Chicago), called on Consul General Melanie Rita B. Diano to explore potential areas of cooperation in support of the Filipino community in the U.S. Midwest. The Consul General was joined by Consul Melvin Almonguera.

The Philippine Consulate General in Chicago commemorated Araw ng Kagitingan (Day of Valor) on 10 April 2026 through a solemn and meaningful program honoring the courage, sacrifice, and enduring legacy of Filipino and American soldiers during the Second World War.

CHICAGO 10 April 2026- Consul General Melanie Rita B. Diano met with South Dakota State University (SDSU) officials led by Mr. Dennis Hedge, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, on 08 April at SDSU in Brookings, South Dakota. She was accompanied by Consul Melvin Almonguera. The meeting followed an earlier introductory call with SDSU Extension’s Dr. Alexander Smart in October 2025.

CHICAGO 13 April 2026- Consul General Melanie Rita B. Diano called on South Dakota Secretary of State Monae Johnson to discuss people-to-people ties at the State Capitol in Pierre, South Dakota on 09 April 2026.

CHICAGO 10 April 2026– The Philippine Consulate General pitched the 2026 U.S. Business Mission to the Philippines during South Dakota Trade Association’s (SD Trade) “Diplomatic Roundtable,” held on 08 April in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The activity also featured a virtual presentation by the Philippine Trade and Investment Center, New York (PTIC-New York).

Consul General Melanie Rita B. Diano attended the Asian Pop-Up Cinema Festival (APUC) screening of its Centerpiece Film, “April,” on 02 April 2026 at the AMC NewCity 14 Cinema in Chicago. The film stars acclaimed Filipino actress Angel Aquino.

CHICAGO 18 March 2026– Following the 11 February 2026 kickoff in New York, the Philippine Consulate General in Chicago and the Philippine Trade and Investment Center, New York (PTIC-New York) launched the 2026 U.S. Business Mission to the Philippines at Harbor Point in Chicago on 17 March 2026. The event was conducted in partnership with the Philippine American Chamber of Commerce of Greater Chicago (PACCGC).

9 March 2026 (Friday), Chicago - The Philippine Consulate General in Chicago launched the “80 for 80” Project, which aims to document and recognize Filipino-American women’s work in the midwest United States that raise the profile of the Philippines, as well as benefit Filipinos and Filipino-Americans. The “80 for 80” Project is a brainchild of the Consulate’s Gender and Development Section in support of the 2026 National Women’s Month Celebration (NWMC) and the 80th anniversary of Philippines-United States diplomatic friendship.

CHICAGO, 24 November 2025 – In line with its commitment to strengthen and modernize consular service delivery, the Philippine Consulate General in Chicago signed a subscription agreement on the implementation of an electronic payment system with Cliqbux LLC on 24 November 2025 at the Kalayaan Hall of the Consulate. The digital payment platform will enable the Consulate to offer secure, convenient, and streamlined electronic payment options to the public.
