JOB VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

Position: Telephone Operator and Website Support Staff
Place of Assignment: Philippine Consulate General in Chicago

The Consulate General of the Philippines invites qualified and interested individuals to apply for the position of Telephone Operator and Website Support Staff.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Manage the receptionist desk and receive guests and mail;
• Answer, screen, and direct incoming telephone calls in a professional and courteous manner;
• Assist in managing and updating the Consulate’s website and social media content;
• Monitor website functionality and performance;
• Provide support for social media and other online communication platforms, as needed

Requirements:

Technical & Administrative

• Basic proficiency in computer applications (e.g., MS Word, Excel, email platforms);
• Familiarity with common website content management systems;
• Basic knowledge of social media platforms and online posting protocols;
• Ability to perform basic troubleshooting or coordinate with technical support when website issues arise.

Communication & Language

• Strong written and oral communication skills in English;
• Knowledge of Filipino/Tagalog or another Philippine language is an advantage;
• Ability to communicate clearly and courteously with the public, including handling inquiries professionally.

Work Ethic & Professionalism

• Ability to work under minimal supervision and handle multiple tasks simultaneously;
• Strong organizational and time-management skills;
• Willingness to work beyond regular hours when necessary for official events or urgent work matters.

Experience & Background

• Prior experience in front-desk, customer service, administrative support, or communications work is an advantage;
• Experience in website or social media management is an advantage;
• Experience working with the public or in a multicultural environment is an advantage.

Compliance & Screening

• Willingness to undergo background and reference checks;
• Physically able to perform desk-based work and occasional light lifting (e.g., documents, mail).
