US DEPARTMENT OF LABOR REGIONAL ADMINISTRATOR MEETS WITH PHL CONSUL GENERAL

Consul General Melanie Rita B. Diano, accompanied by Consul Melvin Almonguera, hosted Mr. Michael Lazzeri, senior official of the US Department of Labor (DOL) and Regional Administrator for the Midwest Region of the Wage and Hour Division (WHD), at the Consulate General on 05 February 2026. He was joined by Ms. Aracely Galvan of the WHD’s Chicago District Office.

The discussion focused on WHD’s ongoing efforts to disseminate its programs and services relative to labor standards, wage protections, and workplace rights. Mr. Lazzeri underscored that workers in the Midwest, including Filipinos, can rely on WHD for support and accurate information to navigate relevant regulations and protections. The Consul General welcomed the initiative and expressed support for WHD’s outreach, adding that the agency would be invited to future community events to engage directly with Filipino workers.
