The Santacruzan Cultural Group of Greater Chicago (SCGGC) hosted a Valentine’s Day Dinner and Dance on 13 February 2026 at the Abbington Distinctive Banquets, bringing together members and friends of the Filipino-American community for an evening of celebration, fellowship, and cultural connection.
The event was graced by Consul Ella Karina Mitra of the Philippine Consulate General in Chicago, who represented Consul General Melanie Rita Diano as the Guest Speaker. In her remarks, Consul Mitra conveyed Consul General Diano’s warm congratulations to SCGGC for organizing a meaningful and enjoyable gathering. She also emphasized the value of social events like this in strengthening friendships, fostering new connections, and nurturing the spirit of camaraderie and brotherhood within the Filipino-American community.
Fr. Sunny Castillo, Spiritual Director of SCGGC, imparted a blessing upon all couples present and offered prayers for continued love, unity, and harmony in their relationships and within the wider community.
Led by President Ms. Joanne Turija, SCGGC is dedicated to facilitating participation in religious and cultural activities that celebrate Filipino heritage, traditions, and Catholic faith, while engaging families and youth in sustaining vibrant cultural expressions.
