PHILIPPINE CONSUL GENERAL ATTENDS RIBBON-CUTTING AND OPENING OF THE OBLATION SUITE AT THE RIZAL CENTER

Consul General Melanie Rita B. Diano accompanied by Cultural Officer Mary Joy Duran-Mortel attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony and opening of the Oblation Suite on 01 March 2026 at the Rizal Center.

Mr. Jerry Clarito, Chairman of the Filipino American Council of Greater Chicago, Inc that manages the Rizal Center, welcomed guests and provided them the importance and history of this partnership with UPAAGC. The renovated Oblation Suite was funded last year by the University of the Philippines Alumni Association of Greater Chicago (UPAAGC) led by President Ma. Theresa Abecia. The initiative aims to support the Rizal Center’s mission of fostering Filipino cultural awareness and unity among the Filipino community and beyond.

This dedicated space is envisioned as a valuable resource for organizations, individuals, and community members who share the goal of celebrating and promoting Filipino heritage. The Oblation Suite will serve as a hub for cultural activities, educational programs, and community engagement, strengthening the ties within the Filipino diaspora.
