CONSULATE GENERAL PARTICIPATES IN WINDY CITY BULLS’ FILIPINO NIGHT

The PHL Consulate General, represented by Consul Melvin Almonguera, attended the Windy City Bulls’ Filipino Night last 14 March at NOW Arena in Hoffman Estates, Illinois. He was joined by Atty. Mark Arinquin, Ms. Lizbeth Pangan and Ms. Sheila Panganiban.

Now on its fourth year, the event drew 6,787 fans, comprising mostly of Filipinos and Filipino Americans. Consul Almonguera served as the ball presenter to open the match between the Windy City Bulls and Valley Suns, a symbolic gesture highlighting the Filipino community during the event. The event began with the singing of the PHL and US national anthems, and throughout the game, the audience was treated to various Filipino performances, including traditional and modern dances and music.

The Windy City Bulls are a professional basketball team based in Chicago and serve as the official minor-league affiliate of the Chicago Bulls in the NBA G League. The team’s annual Filipino Night has been initiated by Filipino-American Michael Vigan, Manager of Game Production for the Chicago Bulls. END
