CONSULATE GENERAL RECOGNIZES FILIPINO TEACHERS IN U.S. AT PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT CELEBRATION

The PHL Consulate General, represented by Consul Melvin Almonguera and Atty. Mark Arinquin, attended Pacific Intercontinental College’s (PIC) event titled “Alumni and Commencement Celebration” on 30 May at the Rizal Center in Chicago, marking the institution’s first commencement-related event in the U.S. Some 21 Filipino teachers serving in various school districts across the country were recognized during the event for either completing or pursuing graduate degree programs while continuing their professional responsibilities as educators.

Delivering the Consul General’s message, Consul Almonguera highlighted the contributions of Filipino educators in the U.S., noting that, through their work in classrooms and communities, they continue to uphold a longstanding tradition of educational excellence while exemplifying Filipino values of dedication, resilience, and service. He further emphasized that, as the PHL and the U.S. commemorate the 80th Anniversary of diplomatic relations this year, the achievements of Filipino teachers and professionals reflect the enduring people-to-people ties that underpin the bilateral relationship.

PIC is a PHL-based educational institution that offers graduate and other academic programs through online learning modalities and has a presence in Guam and California. The event in brought together students, alumni, faculty, families and members of the Filipino community. END
