The Philippine Consulate General, led by Consul General Melanie Rita B. Diano, participated in this year’s Piyesta Pinoy held on 13 June 2026 at the Village of Bolingbrook Town Center.
The event was also graced by the presence of Bolingbrook Mayor Mary Alexander-Basta, who joined Consul General Diano and Piyesta Pinoy officials in leading the parade.
During the official program, Consul General Diano presented a Plaque of Recognition to the organizers of Piyesta Pinoy, which was received on their behalf by Filipino American Historical Society of Chicago President and Piyesta Pinoy Adviser Ruben “Tito Ruben” Salazar and Piyesta Pinoy Chair Joy Vergara. The plaque recognized the organizers’ dedication and efforts in bringing the Filipino community together through this annual festival and various community activities.
Piyesta Pinoy has a long-standing tradition of celebrating the Filipino fiesta spirit, showcasing Philippine culture and traditions, and fostering a strong sense of community among Filipinos in the US Midwest. This year’s celebration attracted thousands of Filipinos, Filipino Americans, and local residents, and featured a wide array of vendors, exhibitors, and sponsor booths. END
