CONSUL GENERAL WELCOMES MEGAWORLD INTERNATIONAL’S PLANS TO EXPAND U.S. PRESENCE

Consul General Melanie Rita B. Diano received Mr. Javier Romeo K. Abustan, Managing Director of Megaworld International based in the PHL, at the Consulate General on 10 August 2026 for a courtesy call and introductory meeting.

Mr. Abustan shared Megaworld International’s plans to strengthen its presence in the U.S., including the possibility of establishing a physical office in Chicago, to expand its engagement with prospective investors and clients in the U.S. Midwest. He also discussed the company’s efforts to promote PHL tourism, particularly in areas where Megaworld has established townships and integrated developments, and highlighted the company’s interest in engaging Filipino Americans in supporting projects in the country.

Consul General Diano noted that the Consulate General promotes PHL companies and business opportunities as part of its economic diplomacy efforts. She also expressed the Consulate General’s openness to exploring collaboration in community events and initiatives, including the 2027 Very Important Pinoy (VIP) Tour to the PHL, which the Consulate is set to spearhead in February 2027.
