Consul General J. Susana V. Paez, together with the officers of the Philippine Consulate General in Chicago (Chicago PCG), virtually met with the Philippine Overseas Labor
Office (POLO), based in Washington D.C., on 16 February 2022. The POLO contingent was headed by Labor Attaché Atty. Angela Librado-Trinidad and Welfare Officer Ms. Josephine Tobia.
The meeting discussed the Consulate General’s outreach activities in Midwest States for
the year 2022. POLO expressed interest in joining Post’s outreach activities to process
accreditation of employers, job orders, OWWA memberships and related services. The POLO team will also conduct labor market survey and meet prospective employers of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) during outreach missions. Atty. Angela LibradoTrinidad mentioned the need to establish POLO’s presence in the Midwest in view of the rising presence of Filipinos in Post’s area of jurisdiction.
In response, Consul General Paez welcomed POLO’s plan and conveyed the Consulate
General’s willingness to accommodate a POLO team during its outreach activities. She
commended such move that will pave the way for an expanded deployment of qualified
Filipino workers into the Midwest, besides reaching out to OFWs on the ground.
During the meeting, the Consulate General and POLO also renewed their partnership in
holding webinars on financial literacy, capacity building, reintegration programs and other
relevant topics for Filipinos in the Midwest. Chicago PCG and POLO also committed to
share information enabling the informed formulation of policies that would better serve
our kababayans.
