The Philippine Consulate General in Chicago held a Meet-and-Greet for its new Consul General, Atty. Melanie Rita B. Diano, with the members of the Filipino community in Chicago on 06 February 2025 at the Community Room of Seafood City in Chicago, IL.
In addition to the Meet-and-Greet, the event also launched the Very Important Pinoy 2025 and the Consulate’s National Arts Month exhibit featuring the art works of its staff member, Ms. Cheryl Navarro.
The event was the biggest event of the Consulate in recent years in terms of guest turnout. It was attended by nearly 70 guests composed of Filipino community leaders, stakeholders and representatives of travel agencies.
The event was the first community event of Consul General Diano since she assumed post on 21 January 2025. In her remarks, the Consul General formally introduced herself to the community, and laid out her priorities as the new Consul General of the Philippine Consulate General in Chicago. She also solicited the support of the Filipino community to the various initiatives of the Consulate, starting with the 2025 VIP Tour.
Following the remarks of Consul General and the video message of PH Ambassador to the US Jose Manuel Romualdez, Tourism Attache Francisco Lardizabal presented the background of the VIP Tour and its new addition, VIP Tour Next Gen, in this year’s iteration.
Mr. Jojo Clemente, President of Rajah Tours Philippines, joined the event virtually to present the itinerary and rates for the VIP Tour 2025 which will feature tours in Manila, Vigan, Laoag, and Puerto Princesa. Mr. Lardizabal meanwhile presented the arrangements for the VIP Tour Next Gen, which will take participants to Manila, Siargao, Puerto Princesa.
This year’s tour aims to be an immersive experience through trips to the different historical sites, partaking in cultural festivities, and having a taste of the best of Filipino cuisine.
