THE PHILIPPINE CONSULATE GENERAL IN CHICAGO ATTENDS THE CHINESE MUTUAL AID ASSOCIATION’S ANNUAL LUNAR NEW YEAR CELEBRATION

10 February 2025, Chicago - The Philippine Consulate General, represented by Consul Ma. Theresa Alders and Consular Assistant Richard Osea, attended the Annual Lunar New Year Celebration hosted by the Chinese Mutual Aid Association (CMAA) held last 08 February 2025 at St. Augustine College in Chicago.

During CMAA’s Annual Lunar New Year Celebration, Consul Alders and Mr. Osea were introduced to several elected officials including Illinois Lieutenant Governor Juliana Stratton and Alderman Leni Manaa-Hoppenworth to name a few. Alderman Manaa-Hoppenworth is the first Filipina to hold a seat on the Chicago City Council.

CMAA was founded by ethnic Chinese refugees in 1981 and is led by prominent individuals from the Asian American community. Their purpose is to serve the needs, promote the interests, and enhance the well-being of low-income, diverse immigrant and refugee communities across metropolitan Chicago through social services, advocacy, educational programming and assistance for youth, adults, the elderly and small businesses.END
