PH CONSUL GENERAL ATTENDS THE RVP ANNUAL INTERNATIONAL TEACHER EVENT
Consul General Melanie Rita B. Diano attended the RVP Annual International Teacher Event on 08 February 2025 at the Hyatt Regency in Columbus, Ohio.
The event featured and honored the incredible contributions of international educators, including Filipino teachers, with a special focus on their impactful role within the US educational system.
The event was attended by 100 international J-1 teachers hailing from the Philippines, Ghana, India, and other countries, as well as representatives from different educational organizations. Also present in the event were Minister Amidu Karande from the Embassy of Ghana and Mr. Kyle Harrigan, Program Analyst at the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the US Department of State.
In her message, Consul General Diano acknowledged the significant contributions of the J-1 teachers in strengthening the US education system, particularly in addressing teacher shortages, as well as in promoting multicultural awareness and global perspectives among their students and colleagues.
This was echoed by Ms. Sabrina Abdu, Founder and CEO of RVP Consultants, in her message. Ms. Abdu underscored the importance of having international J-1 teachers in US classrooms as it prepares American children for a more globalized world.
Consul General Diano also took the opportunity to speak with the Filipino teachers and check on their living and working conditions. She assured them of the committed support and assistance of the Consulate.
As a background, RVP Consultants is primarily a global talent acquisition and workforce management agency serving clients across North America, Europe, and the Middle East. According to RVP Consultants, they have placed approximately 40 to 50 Filipino teachers on J-1 visa in various schools, mainly in Ohio and a few in Michigan. END
