THE PHILIPPINE CONSULATE GENERAL IN CHICAGO JOINS THE CELEBRATION OF NATIONAL CHILDREN'S MONTH

The Philippine Consulate General in Chicago, in partnership with Rizal Center-Pamana Library, celebrated the National Children's Month with a painting workshop held at Rizal Center’s Bayanihan Hall in Chicago on 16 November 2024.

Ms. Ginger Leopoldo, a volunteer of the Rizal Center, opened the activity and welcomed all participants. Afterwards, Consul Ella Karina Mitra, on behalf of the Consul General and the Consulate, thanked the Rizal Center for the partnership and underscored the significance of the event to the Consulate’s celebration of National Children’s Month. Consul Mitra also briefly introduced the resource person, Ms. Cheryl Navarro, who conducted the painting workshop.”

Ms. Navarro is a talented staff member of the Consulate who also conducts online painting tutorials on her YouTube channel. She generously volunteered her time to share her artistic skills and passion for painting to the Filipino and Filipino-American children and young adult participants. Her enthusiasm for art and dedication to nurturing creativity in young people made the session both educational and entertaining

Participants expressed their gratitude and excitement about the activity. Many children revealed their newfound love for painting, while adults appreciated the opportunity to reconnect with their creative side. END
