Chicago, 31 May 2022 – Consul General J. Susana V. Paez, together with Consul Ryan Pondoc, attended the Chicago Nightingales’ 5th Induction and Awards Ceremony held on 28 May 2022 at the Drury Lane Banquets in Oakbrook Terrace, Illinois.
The Chicago Nightingales is a non-profit organization founded by Filipino and Filipino-American healthcare professionals in 2013. It derives its name from Florence Nightingale, a British healthcare worker who is revered as the founder of modern nursing. Aside from promoting health and wellness, the group is actively involved in bringing community awareness on important historical events such as the Philippine-American War, World War II, and the Korean War.
In her remarks, Consul General Paez congratulated the group’s incoming officers and board members led by its President, Ms. Lourdes Shah, a registered nurse based in Illinois. She also thanked all the medical frontliners for their sacrifices and commitment over the past two years to protect our health and well-being, adding that their willingness to serve keeps the memory and spirit of Florence Nightingale alive.
