CHICAGO PCG STANDS IN SOLIDARITY WITH THE FORCIBLY DISPLACED AND STATELESS PERSONS DURING WORLD REFUGEE DAY

Consul General Melanie Rita B. Diano leads the officers and staff of Chicago PCG in reaffirming the

Philippines’ longstanding commitment to refugee protection and to advancing durable solutions for

refugees, stateless persons, asylum seekers, and other persons of concern.



Chicago, 22 June 2026 - The Philippine Consulate General in Chicago joined the international community in honoring the forcibly displaced and stateless persons on World Refugee Day. The Blue Monday event included the reading of the National Refugee Day Message of President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr., followed by the playing of the National Refugee Day commemorative video.

This year’s observance coincides with two important milestones: the 75th anniversary of the adoption of the 1951 Convention Relating to the Status of Refugees and the 45th anniversary of the Philippines’ accession to the Convention. [END]
