27 June 2022 – Philippine Consul General J. Susana V. Paez called on Southfield, Michigan Mayor Kenson J. Siver at the Southfield City Hall on 24 June 2022 to explore areas of cooperation with one of the most economically vibrant cities in the Midwest.
It was the first official visit of Consul General Paez, who is heading the Philippine Consulate General in Chicago with jurisdiction over the twelve US Midwestern states, to Michigan. Joining her at the meeting were Consul Ryan Gener and Ms. Janice Kathlene Lobien.
Consul General Paez and Mayor Siver discussed topics of mutual interest, including the welfare of the Filipino community in Southfield, addressing anti-Asian hate crimes, and economic cooperation. Southfield is Michigan’s business center, hosting 10,000 businesses including more than 100 “Fortune 500” companies.
Consul General Paez thanked Mayor Siver for ensuring that Filipinos are safe and welcomed in Southfield. They also discussed possible synergies particularly in the Information Technology – Business Process Management (IT-BPM) sector, including the keen interest of a Southfield-based enterprise to invest in the Healthcare Information and Management Systems sector in the Philippines.
