ASEAN CONSULATES GENERAL IN CHICAGO FOSTER CAMARADERIE THROUGH FRIENDLY BOWLING

CHICAGO, 16 September 2026- The Consulates General of Indonesia, Thailand, and the Philippines came together for an ASEAN Bowling Camaraderie on 15 September 2026 at Lucky Strike in Niles, Illinois, bringing together officials and staff of the three (03) resident ASEAN consular posts in Chicago for an evening of friendly competition and fellowship.

The activity was co-organized by the three (03) Consulates General, led by Consul General Trisari Dyah Paramita of Indonesia, Consul General Bacharee Puengpak of Thailand, and Consul General Melanie Rita B. Diano of the Philippines. Each mission fielded a Men’s Team and a Women’s Team, with five (05) bowlers per team, while other personnel joined as spectators and supporters.

The Philippine teams won the championship in both the Men’s and Women’s Divisions. Indonesia placed first runner-up in both divisions, while Thailand placed second runner-up in both.

Each team played two (02) games, with the combined scores of the five (05) bowlers determining the team’s final score. The prizes were presented by the respective Consuls General, with the Philippine Consulate General presenting the prize to Indonesia, the Indonesian Consulate General presenting the prize to Thailand, and the Thai Consulate General presenting the prize to the Philippines, in keeping with the spirit of friendship and camaraderie among the missions.

Beyond the competition, the activity provided an opportunity for counterparts from the three (03) Consulates General to come together, foster closer ties, and strengthen the camaraderie and fellowship that characterize ASEAN relations. It also continued the tradition of sports activities among ASEAN representatives in Chicago, which have been held on various occasions over the years. END
