PHILIPPINE CONSULATE GENERAL IN CHICAGO CELEBRATES MARITIME AND ARCHIPELAGIC NATION AWARENESS MONTH (MANAMo)

03 October 2022 - In commemoration of the Maritime and Archipelagic Nation Awareness Month (MANAMo), personnel from the Philippine Consulate General in Chicago, led by Consul General J. Susana V. Paez concluded the month-long celebration with a flag raising ceremony at the Kalayaan Hall.

Presidential Proclamation No. 316 (2017) declared the month of September as archipelagic consciousness month among overseas and regional Filipino communities.

This year also commemorates the 40th Anniversary of the signing of the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) with the sub-theme: “Philippines as an Archipelagic State: UNCLOS@40”.-END
