PHILIPPINE CONSULATE GENERAL GIVES AWAY PURPLE SHIRTS TO KICK OFF THE 2023 NATIONAL WOMEN’S MONTH

02 March 2023 - To kick off the observance of the 2023 National Women’s Month, on 01 March 2023, the Philippine Consulate General in Chicago raffled off purple shirts designed with the theme “WE for Gender Equality and Inclusive Society” to lucky consular clients. Purple is widely recognized as the color of women.

Aside from the raffle, to inform its clients of the month-long observance, Post also set up a 2023 National Women’s Month roll-up banner at the Consular Area. Likewise, a music video titled “Musika ng Kababaihan” promoting women empowerment was played on a loop for its clients.

Proclamation No. 227, s. 1988 assigned March as the National Women’s Month in the Philippines. This year, the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW) launched a recurring theme up to 2028: “WE for Gender Equality and Inclusive Society.” “WE” stands for Women and Everyone and also for Women’s Empowerment.

The Consulate General will continue to raffle off free shirts on all the Wednesdays of March 2023. Meanwhile, Post’s personnel will wear purple also on the Wednesdays of the month. END
