Chicago 15 April 2024 - Consul General J. Susana V. Paez administered the oath of office of Atty. Marcus S. Evangelista as Consul, ad honorem, of the Republic of the Philippines to Detroit, Michigan on 11 April 2024 at the Philippine Consulate General in Chicago, Illinois. He was appointed as PH Honorary Consul by Secretary for Foreign Affairs Enrique A. Manalo.
Atty. Evangelista, who obtained his law degree from Boston College, works as General Counsel and Chief Financial Officer at the Maple Manor Rehab Center, LLC and at Evangelista Development, LLC. He succeeded his father, Dr. Jose Evangelista, who served as the PH Honorary Consul General in Michigan for 14 years.
After taking his oath, officers of the Consulate General briefed Atty. Evangelista on the PH government’s mandate focusing on the three pillars of PH foreign policy. During the two(02)-day onboarding session, topics on the promotion of Philippine trade, commerce, industry, investments, culture, agriculture, and tourism were given emphasis. He was also briefed on the provision of consular services as well as appropriate assistance to distressed Filipino nationals in the State of Michigan.
