Consul General Melanie Rita B. Diano, upon the kind invitation of Diplomatic Liaisons Pam and Steve Caine of the Chicago-Illinois region, participated in the Light the World Giving Machine event organized by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on 17 December 2025 in Aurora, Illinois.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints represents a diverse global community committed to service and humanitarian efforts. The Giving Machine offers a creative approach to charitable giving: rather than dispensing snacks, it allows participants to purchase essential items for people in need, both locally and internationally.

The Church also supports humanitarian relief efforts in the Philippines, including assistance to communities affected by Typhoon Tino (Kalmaegi). Their programs have included opening meetinghouses as temporary evacuation centers, providing shelter and support to thousands of affected individuals. END.
