Consul General Melanie Rita B. Diano attended the 35 th Anniversary and 20 th Induction of Officers of the Alpha Phi Omega Midwest Alumni Association (APO Midwest) on 08 March 2025 in Elk Grove Village, IL. She delivered the keynote address and inducted the newly elected officers of APO Midwest.

In her remarks, Consul General Diano congratulated APO Midwest, and lauded the organization’s work for its community and the country, “your work reflects the best of our bayanihan culture and the other values that define us as a nation, and for that, we are grateful and proud.”

The Consul General also highlighted APO Midwest’s strong advocacy for service. She noted the organization’s various programs such as supporting the education of indigent children, undertaking disaster relief efforts to provide critical support, to leading and organizing humanitarian missions back home.

After her keynote address, the Consul General inducted the newly elected Executive Officers of APO Midwest, led by its new President, Mr. Lazaro Layao. She extended her congratulations and best wishes to the new officers, and thanked the outgoing officers for their leadership, hard work, and dedicated service during the past year.
