The Philippine Consulate General in Chicago, represented by Consul Ella Karina Mitra, participated in ABC7 Chicago’s celebration of Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month through a community luncheon held on 06 May 2026, highlighting the vibrant contributions of the AAPI community in Chicago.

The event gathered community leaders, advocates, and members of various AAPI communities, and featured the participation of prominent ABC7 Chicago personalities, including Judy Hsu, Ravi Baichwal, Eric Horng, and Filipino-American reporter Cate Cauguiran.

Guests were also given a preview of the Emmy Award-winning special program, Our Chicago: Breaking Barriers, which featured inspiring stories of Asian Americans making an impact across various fields and industries.

The event served as an opportunity to celebrate AAPI Heritage Month and recognize the important contributions of Asian American and Pacific Islander communities to the cultural and civic life of Chicago.
