Chicago, 16 June 2025 - The Consulate General, represented by Consul Melvin Almonguera, inducted the newly-elected officers of the Bataan Organization of Illinois – USA during its Independence Day gala on 14 June 2025 held at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Rosemont, Illinois. He was joined by Assistance-to-Nationals Officer Atty. Mark Arinquin and Consular Assistant Mr. Richard Osea.

Some 150 Filipinos and Filipino-Americans mostly with roots in the province of Bataan attended the event. Engr. Ray Galicia, the group’s incoming president, laid out the programs for his tenure, including some outreach activities for the benefit of their communities back home.

In his remarks, Consul Almonguera congratulated the new set of officers and encouraged them to continue promoting the welfare of its members and the Filipino Community in general. With this year’s commemoration of the 127th Anniversary of the Proclamation of Independence, he likewise talked about the multi-year celebration in the Philippines. END
