The Philippine Consulate General in Chicago celebrated the Filipino American History Month with the Filipino American Council of Greater Chicago (FACGC) on 18 October 2025 at the Rizal Center in Irving Park, Chicago.
The event, titled "Celebrating the Coming of the First Filipino American to America - a variety show," brought together community members, cultural enthusiasts, and families for an inspiring and entertaining afternoon.
The celebration commenced with welcome remarks from FACGC President Jerry Clarito followed by a presentation by Dr. Almira Gilles, who provided a brief historical perspective of the Coming of the First Filipinos to America. Her insightful talk set the tone for the event, highlighting the rich history and resilience of Filipino Americans.
Following the historical overview, attendees enjoyed a diverse lineup of cultural performances, including a piano recital, song numbers, dance performances, and poem reading. The program also featured a Tagalog recital and an engaging acting contest, showcasing the talents and cultural pride of the Filipino community.
