21 October 2025, CHICAGO, ILLINOIS – The Philippine Consulate General in Chicago participated at the 24th Annual US-China Trade Conference on 16 October 2025 held at the Union League Club of Chicago in a session on “Southeast Asia Forum: Will ASEAN be the next destination for sourcing and market expansion?”

Consul Ma. Theresa Alders presented the economic priorities of the Philippines, particularly in information technology business process outsourcing (IT-BPO) and the creative industries. She highlighted that, in the IT-BPO industry, the Philippines has developed a world-class sector that provides reliable, high-quality support services to companies around the world. Meanwhile, in the creative industry, the country has a strong and growing pool of developers providing outsourcing services for mobile and console games, art design, storyboarding, and interactive media. As such, the Philippines is on track to becoming a US$ 1 trillion economy by 2033, signaling long-term investment potential in key industries.

Consul for Economic Affairs Raden Hikmat Moeljawan of the Indonesian Consulate and Deputy Director Haikal Samsudin of the Malaysia Investment Development Authority also presented their respective country’s priorities.

The US-China Trade Conference was organized by the United States of America – China Chamber of Commerce (USCCC). USCCC is a not-for-profit, bi-national membership organization dedicated to developing increased US-China trade and investment activities by assisting American and Chinese companies, professionals and the general public to better understand the business environments and cultural traditions relevant to successfully doing business in both countries.
