CONSUL GENERAL MEETS WITH NEW PHILIPPINE TRADE COMMISSIONER

Consul General Melanie Rita Diano received Trade Commissioner Alma Argayoso of the Philippine Trade and Investment Center, New York (PTIC-NY) at the Consulate General on 12 November 2025. The visit marked Ms. Argayoso’s first official trip to Chicago since assuming her post last July at the PTIC-NY.

The two officials discussed the close economic ties between the Philippines and the US, and the former’s priority sectors for foreign investment as identified by the PTIC-NY. They also agreed to pursue a business mission to the Philippines for Midwestern companies and entrepreneurs, to be held in conjunction with the 2026 Very Important Pinoy (VIP) Tour in July next year.

The Consul General expressed appreciation for the PTIC-NY’s steadfast support to the Consulate’s economic diplomacy initiatives. The PTIC-NY is the representative office of the Philippine Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in New York, which also oversees trade and investment engagements across the US Midwest. END
