CONSUL GENERAL GRACES THE ANNUAL FASHION SHOW AND CORONATION NIGHT OF THE SCGGC
Consul General Melanie Rita B. Diano attended this year’s Fashion Show and Coronation Night on 15 March 2025 at Embassy Suites by Hilton in Naperville, IL. The event was organized by the Santacruzan Cultural Group of Great Chicago (SCGGC) headed by its President, Ms. JoAnne S. Turija.
As Guest Speaker, Consul General Diano congratulated SCGGC for successfully organizing the event, and conveyed her appreciation to the organization for being one of the Consulate’s strongest partners throughout the years in promoting Philippine culture, heritage, and tradition in the US Midwest. She also underscored the critical role that the Filipino diaspora plays in fostering cultural exchanges that highlight Filipino creativity and ingenuity, and the
Philippines’ great ethnic and cultural diversity.
This year’s fashion show featured modern and Filipiniana dresses made of hablon from Iloilo City, and designs by Antonio Doloso and Tata Blas Panuela, as well as the crowning of this year’s Reyna Elena. The entire program was also interspersed with performances by different community talents such as Ms. Ingrid Bantuan, FAASD Cultural Dance Group, Rhythm of the Island dancers, among others.

During the event, SCGGC also presented awards to several members of the community for their contributions to society and for their religious service. The Consul General was also presented an award by the SCGGC for her support to the organization and her dedication to community and faith.
