CONSULATE GENERAL HOLDS FIRST-EVER CONSULAR OUTREACH IN SPRINGFIELD, MISSOURI

CHICAGO 21 May 2024 – The Philippine Consulate General in Chicago conducted a consular outreach mission and a field Overseas Voting (OV) Registration on 18 May 2024 at St. Joseph Catholic Church Gymnasium 1115 N Campbell Ave, Springfield, Missouri 65802 (some 520 miles away from the Consulate General). The event was the first-ever outreach activity in Springfield, Missouri, since previous consular missions were held in other cities of the state.

Led by Consul General J. Susana V. Paez, the Consulate General’s team rendered a total of 191 passport, dual-citizenship and other services to consular clients residing in Missouri and other nearby states during the one-day event. In addition, the team also processed 133 OV Registration applications.

The event was conducted in partnership with the Springfield, Missouri Filipino Catholic Community, headed by the coordinator, Ms. Lalaine Duaban. The group assisted the outreach team through promotional and logistical support. Applicants who availed of the consular and OV services during the event expressed their appreciation to the team, since this meant that they no longer have to drive for more than eight (08) hours to the Consulate General in Chicago.

During the event, a group of female dancers of the Filipino-American Association of Southwest Missouri (FILAASMO) performed a Philippine folk dance to the delight of the consular clients. The group often performs during Filipino-American gatherings to educate the younger generation of Filipino-Americans.
Consular missions are regularly held to bring the Consulate General’s services closer to the Filipino and Filipino-American communities in US Midwestern states under the Consulate’s jurisdiction, outside of Illinois.
