PH CONSULATE GENERAL IN CHICAGO HOLDS ITS FIRST KAPIHAN FOR THE YEAR, ADDRESSES COMMON AND PRESSING COMMUNUTY CONCERNS

The Philippine Consulate General in Chicago organized a Kapihan sa Konsulado on 11 April 2025 at the Consulate’s Kalayaan Hall. The event was attended by 57 leaders and members from 29 Filipino Community organizations in the US Midwest.

Consul General Melanie Rita B. Diano welcomes the leaders and members of the different Filipino Community organizations to the Kapihan.

Consul General Melanie Rita B. Diano, in her opening remarks, informed the Filipino community organization leaders and members of the objective of the Kapihan, which is to brief them on important matters and other updates that are germane to their needs and interests as Filipino nationals in the US. She also encouraged everyone to take full advantage of the Kapihan, and to raise their concerns about key issues and share their various programs and activities.

This year’s first Kapihan tackled two important issues – immigration policy updates and overseas voting for the Philippine midterm election. The Kapihan likewise discussed updates on consular matters and community events.
