PHILIPPINE CONSULATE GENERAL IN CHICAGO ATTENDS THE 30TH ANNUAL SKOKIE FESTIVAL OF CULTURES

24 May 2022 ,Chicago – The Philippine Consulate General in Chicago, represented by Cultural Officer Richard Osea, attended the opening ceremony of the 30th Annual Skokie Festival of Cultures held at Oakton Park in Skokie, Illinois on 21 May 2022. Joining the event were Skokie Mayor George Van Dusen and Illinois State Rep. Denyse Stoneback. 2022.

This year’s festival, which ran from 21 to 22 May 2022, featured more than 20 different cultures, including the Philippines.

The Skokie Festival of Cultures was initiated in 1990 to promote better understanding between Skokie residents of different ethnic and religious backgrounds, and the inaugural festival was held in June 1991.

The Filipino and Filipino-American community in Skokie, led by Ms. Angeles Carandang of the Filipino American National Historical Society (FANHS), showed their support by setting up a booth which displayed Philippine products and other materials. END.
